Now, this is #Cool #mustsee I #love this so–it had to be More Nature’s Ambiguous Life Lessons with a real live #TwoTailedLizard.  This little guy or gal lived in our yard a while back.

It’s a Brown Anole Lizard, they grow to be about 8″ long; most of it is the tail. And the width is an adult’s finger or thumb.  The kids have caught and played with lizards since we moved down here.  The one rule is if the lizards lose their tail, the kids had to let them go.  You have to be very quick to catch them, but the kids got so good…one time we had a tank filled with over 20 or more.

Letting them go and catching them again was a lot of fun for the kids.  They have grown out of it, now they are into the bigger game.

For defense, lizards will bite with a death grip! It won’t hurt most adults, however, to any children it might pinch a bit.  When they don’t let go, it freaks some out and they get jumpy.  I have a few pics, I won’t share, of me with one on each earlobe–biting lizard earrings.

Lizards’ other defense as mentioned earlier, they will dislodge their tails.  This TWO-TAILED Anole Lizard is the first we’ve seen in 15 years. Read that it happens more often than you might think. Though seeing one is a different story; It’s Sooo Cool!

I did not let the kids play/handle this one–since I thought the kids may be the reason the Anole tossed its first tail.

This little guy (I really think it’s a gal) had a good life in our yard that summer!

Chato Stewart Thoughts

I can’t help but apply the Two Tailed Lizard on how I live my life. Yes, the lizard is forced into a life of resilience, tossing its tail when in trouble. But this little guy shows me what I can do while living with so many mental health challenges.  Yes, I may have to cast off old my negative ways of doing things.  May be it was my negative talk or my many other mental health challenges, but now I can look back to see what has grown from it, and it is uniquely beautiful to my recovery.
