It’s said “whatever doesn’t kill us, makes us stronger”, Surviving years and decades living with bipolar disorder, yes, a serious mental illness that does kill in so many ways. But, surviving it daily does make us stronger. I see in myself, I see it in others, the daily struggles, many unforeseen issues that knock the wind out our guts, pulling the rug from our feet. It is enough to make…
Life is not is determined by fate! I was not fated to have a mental illness. It was fate that gave me my wife of 25 years. Fate did not grow my waistline to be over 350 lbs. No one human can accurately predict the outcome of any endeavor. We may come close, but use the knowledge we have. An example is all I ate was double cheeseburgers for the next 60 days, it’s not “Fate” that’s giving me the extra 15 to 20 pounds. Just a bad diet of food.
Fate is nothing more than chance. Being in the right place at the right time, both can have a positive or negative outcome.
Whatever happens in life is fine – just trust in that. ~ Orlando Bloom
We can believe we are going to have a great day, we may even make it a mantra, “today is going to be a great day, today is going to be a great day, today is going to be a great day.” That doesn’t mean it will be a great day, no matter how hard you want to believe. Stuff happens!
No matter what happens in life, be good to people. Being good to people is a wonderful legacy to leave behind.~ Taylor Swift
Things happen every day. You can’t spend your whole life trying to guard against something happening. If you do that, in my opinion, you’ve wasted your life.~ Tony Stewart
Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving. ~ Albert Einstein
I returned to see under the sun that the swift do not have the race, nor the mighty ones the battle, nor do the wise also have the food, nor do the understanding ones also have the riches, nor do even those having knowledge have the favor; because time and unforeseen occurrence befall them all. ~ Bible
Living with a Mental Illness diagnosis is not our fate. Rather, we have to take what happens in life and grow or we will mental health wither away.
Our legacy is not going to be: poor this one or poor that one, they suffered badly with bipolar or depression. We don’t have to let our mental health be the punch in the gut then uppercut to the face for a knock-out punch.
Take action, do something. It’s not our fate to be sick…is just what happens. It sucks! But if we “spend our whole life trying to guard against” what’s going to happen next, we risk losing balance/losing ourselves.
Life is like riding a bicycle, living with a mental or mood disorder –is like riding a mountain bicycle downhill in an extreme obstacle race. You’re going to have steep drops, get smacked in the face with tree branches, and you may fall a few times. But what is great, we can dust our self off and get back on the bike.
It’s because time and unforeseen occurrence befall them all, we don’t know what’s going to happen. There is no time for the “what if’s”– just keep moving.
