
Can one change trauma? A traumatic experience affects all of us differently; obviously. So, how we handle trauma individually can be very different. From physical trauma to sexual trauma to emotional trauma– each one event can come with more baggage than an airport.
Traumatic baggage is devastating and impacting all areas of our lives. Coping with the day to day is a minute by minute fight for some of us. On the anniversary of the traumatic event, this time will most likely be more overwhelming.
What can be done to get power over the day?
One coping technique involves redefining the day and taking control back. Instead of the drama, create a personal wellness day. Redefine the day with positives and empowering actions. Starting with small goals then bigger objectives if possible.
This does not mean you overlook what happened! No, rather your goal is to rest the day…and you may need to reset it often.
Don’t give up on redefining and recovering.
