Out Of The Mouths Of Babes
I asked Belly (my youngest girl) to help me understand the text talk. Here is what she said:
Many times, as young adults, we tend to use slang more often in text talk then we realize. Which is fine for younger ones because they are used to it. Sometimes with age, there is some slang not many yet get. Like “LOL” and maybe even “SMH” many of these types of text talk lots don’t actually understand. With the help of younger ones (asking them what it means), we then find out that “LOL” means “Laughing Out Loud” and that “SMH” means “Shaking My Head.” Even then many of us older ones still don’t know what it means. And find it challenging to figure out. That’s also why trusty old “GOOGLE” is on our side.
Great to understand my kids. I need google translate!
